Theydon Bois Action Group has learned that a motocross meeting will be held at Blunts Farm on Sunday 24th August.

According to East Kent Schoolboys Scramble Club Chairman Gary Lane 'Blunts Farm, Essex is a brand new venue never used before. It is approx. 30 miles from Dartford tunnel. The track is around 1.5 miles long and has the potential to be a national venue' He has told the Guardian he has hired the facility in good faith and the meet goes ahead.

A spokesman for EFDC said 'We have approached the owner prior to the setting up of the track. The owner denied knowledge of it and said he would investigate as this is likely to be a trespass. Since then the track has been created. Further investigations are therefore taking place. Since it is unlikely that planning permission would be given for a change of the use of land for motorsports, it's likely that the council will take enforcement action to secure the cessation of the use and secondly the removal of the works and formation of track, unless the owner achieves this without the need for the council to take action.'

Since these comments were made we learned on Thursday that a motocross event is scheduled for 24th August. EFDC have now said that 'We are aware of the meeting and the due processes are in hand.'

It seems very unlikely however that this meeting will be stopped.

The police, Environmental Health and the Health and Safety Executive have all been informed.

EFDC are intending to revisit the site with an Essex County Council Footpaths Officer to ensure none of the footpaths have been blocked or any dangers exist for walkers using them.
It may be sensible however to avoid the area over the Bank Holiday weekend.
